Merry Madagascar - Julianuary

PoM Profile : King Julien

The Monarch with the Most, The King of Cool, The Sovereign of Soul, The King of The Zoo, Fur-Face, Ringtail, Booty For Brains, Lord of The Ringtails, etc. King Julien is a fixture in The Penguins of Madagascar. He usually appears annoyingly/noisily, depending on which side of the fence you’re on. The other animals show up to His decrees, probably just to humour Him(only Maurice & Mort take His King thing seriously).


King Julien hates it when anyone touches His feet, & gains super-human strength when He’s really angry(He rarely gets THAT angry). He completely ignores Mort, and continually takes advantage of Maurice. He does miss them when they’re not around though.

He is a firm believer in the ‘Sky Spirits’, as seen in the episode Eclipsed. Aside from their mother, King Julien is the only one who knows the identical ducklings by name(which is surprising, because Private is the one who loves ducklings).

He is always annoying Skipper, & takes a keen interest in what the penguins are up to. This is so because He is very competitive. He is fluent in booty(dancing), with His only weakness being German folk music.

In the episode King Me, it is revealed that King Julien was not born on Madagascar. He likes possessing other peoples possessions Although He is the cause of many of the zoo’s problems, He does step up when needed the most. By far my fav character

PoM Profile : Private

Private is the shortest, cutest, chubbiest(arguably), youngest member of the penguin commando unit. He is also the most inexperienced. His nicknames include Slippy & Mr Tux among others. He has blue eyes and speaks with a British accent(which Skipper thinks is phony).

In the episode Eclipsed, King Julien called Private the nicest guy in the zoo. He tends to offer more reasonable solutions than Skipper or Kowalski, even though He can be naive at times. He is the most sensitive of the penguins, & has a weird fear of badgers & cockroaches.

Private loves eating peanut butter winkies, and even finished a whole box of them in the episode Skorka. He also loves watching the Lunacorns, constantly quoting them.

Private is very good at mini-golf, but gave up when the game turned Him into something He wasnt(His words, not mine). He has hypercute ability which makes everyone pass out because of His adorability(see Cute-Astrophe). He swore never to use it again.

Oh, He also likes saying “um Skipper” when something is not right.

PoM Profile : Rico

Rico is a member of the penguin commando team and is the teams weapons/demolition expert. He does not talk much, mainly speaking through grunts and other strange sounds(He’s speech has improved a bit though). He has some sort of mahawk, & a scar on the left side of His beak.

He regurgitates almost anything from His gut(which apparently has a staircase & an elevator), including items that may seem bigger than Him. Skipper likes to call him a psychopath. Rico’s solution to every problem is ‘Ka-Boom’ ,or blowing things up. If it wasn't for Skipper, He would be out of control(he also gets anxious when Skipper is away).

Rico absolutely loves his Ms Perky doll, & goes crazy when something happens to her(as seen in Operation Marble Jarhead). He hates the mushy stuff, & feels like throwing up when something mushy happens.

Aside from being my least favourite character, Rico sings in an opera-like voice when there’s fish.

PoM Profile : Kowalski

Brainiac, tall guy, the zoo science guy, options guy, etc. Kowalski is the tallest of the penguins, has blue eyes, and is 2nd in command(He usually takes charge when Skipper is not around). He usually has an options clipboard which He uses to take notes for Skipper, and an abacus for His calculations.

Kowalski is arguably the smartest of the penguins(which can make him a bit arrogant),  and provides strategies/plans for the group. Kowalski’s plans can sometimes be over-complicated, unlike Private’s. His inventions also come in handy, although they tend to go horribly wrong. Plus, He can also be impatient at times.

As stated earlier, Kowalski’s nicknames are tall guy, zoo science guy, brainiac and options guy. He absolutely  loves candy(as seen in Happy King Julien Day).

In the episode Mental Hen, the blue hen takes a liking to him when he starts dancing. Throughout the series, Kowalski has always been obsessed with Doris The Dolphin(who only liked him as a friend). He however manages to win her over in the episode The Penguin Who Loved Me(and ends up kissing her in the end).

PoM Profile : Skipper

 Skipper is the leader of the penguin commando unit. The group members include Kowalski, Rico & Private. Manfredy & Johnson are cited as former members.

Only Private is shorter than Him, and He has blue eyes. The show indicates that He does not know how to behave like a penguin(see the episode “Tagged”). He is terrified of needles, but is highly skilled in hand-to-hand combat(he knows a lot of fighting styles). He’s also extremely strong. His aliases are Lincoln Douglas(wealthy industrialist), Diego Garcia(international play bird) and Two-bit hood Jack the knife.

Skipper’s arch enemies include Dr Blowhole, Hans the Puffin, Officer X, etc. Hans the Puffin was involved in the Denmark scandal(Skipper cant go to Denmark, because of fish/chases/explosions/sandwiches). He has a serious dislike for King Julien by the way.



Although some people would call Kowalski the smartest penguin of the group, Skipper shows high levels of intelligence during high-pressure scenarios(+ He can be more logical than Kowalski). Like Kowalski, Skipper can also over-complicate plans. He deeply cares for all the members of His team, especially Private.

In s01e46, Skipper fell for a falcon named Kitka who He dated for a while. In one of the episodes, He says “don't worry Doris, Kowalski doesn't have to know” or something like that. He also fell in love with Arlene, who was actually Marlene(her fur got bleached). Him and Marlene are the best of friends(which makes a lot of fanfic people out there call them Skilene).

How Skipper met the other penguins is completely unknown though. Oh, and did i mention He is paranoid?
